I Must Admit The Writing Of My Story Is Probably One Of
I must admit the writing of my story is probably one of the hardest things Iââ¬â¢ve done in a long time. Once you put pen to paper there is nowhere to go but into the truth of what it was like to be a child of addicted parents, how my addiction costs me more than money. Finally the lengths I went to ââ¬â to successfully remain sober, permanently, reclaim and rebuild my shattered life and lifestyle. So letââ¬â¢s get started! My Family History In my family tree we have an extensive history of alcoholism, gambling and other types of addictions. My biological father was an alcoholic, as was his father and his father before him. On my motherââ¬â¢s side, there was alcoholism and gambling. I remember her telling me that someone in her parentââ¬â¢s family lost theâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦We had no voice; no rights, and little protection. In my era there was no Government support, few if any organizations or the police were there to support or protect battered children, or wives of domestic violence, we were on our own. Life was as it was. You just got on with it. Whatever went on in the family home stayed in the family home. ââ¬Å"Private businessâ⬠was never ââ¬Å"Public business.â⬠We were groomed to silence at an early age. Repeatedly, told that: ââ¬Å"You have a roof over your head, food in your belly, somewhere to sleep, so shut-up before I give you something to whinge about.â⬠ââ¬Å"The Goings Onâ⬠Let me explain what I mean by the ââ¬Å"goings onâ⬠behind closed doors in my family home. A day in my childhood consisted of ongoing neglect, verbal abuse, and physical violence, and emotional maltreatment, mental and spiritual abuse. And of course keeling the most secret of all secrets, the ongoing child sexual abuse; perhaps in another time and place such things were worthy of reporting, but to whom, and who cared was the unanswered question. On a ââ¬Å"badâ⬠day things got pretty unpleasant. I was always on edge. Waiting for the next blow, or the constant reminder I wasnââ¬â¢t good enough, selfish, ungrateful, or to be told, yet again, ââ¬Å"If it wasnââ¬â¢t for you I wouldnââ¬â¢t be here, with him, you ruined my life.â⬠Most nights the evening meal would end up feeding the ceiling for no other reason than ââ¬Å"having a bit of fun.â⬠A tummy tensed from hunger IShow MoreRelatedOutline : Outlining Vs.
